The first City of colours festival was held in Birmingham in 2014 by Karl and Becci (who run Street Art Birmingham), they are a really enthusiastic couple who are well into street art, graffiti, music and all the surrounding creative culture. They both have their own solo projects in art and music.
The festival seemed like a massive undertaking, with 100 artists painting live, break dancing battles, beatboxing battles, film screenings, dance and music workshops. The artists included Snub23, Epok, Inkie, Phlegm, Tempo33 and a load of others.
It’s a quality place for a festival under the railway arches in Digbeth, decent bars and food places about too. This year’s festival has now been postponed until next year but the organisers are always busy on other events around Birmingham. Find more deets on the City of Colours website here.
